"This Is Not 1968"

An Associated Press news article today states that "President Bush put the U.S. more firmly than ever on Georgia's side in its conflict with Russia on Wednesday, sending humanitarian aid on American military planes to help the embattled ex-Soviet republic and displaying growing impatience with Moscow's aggression".

"Moscow's agression". That's interesting. Wasn't it Georgia who was the aggressor here in starting this whole thing by invading South Ossetia?

The article later quotes Condoleezza Rice as saying "This is not 1968 and the invasion of Czechoslovakia where Russia can threaten a neighbor, occupy a capital, overthrow a government and get away with it," Rice said just hours before leaving for France. "Things have changed."

She's right, things have changed. This is 2008 and the invasion of Iraq where the United States can threaten a neighbor, occupy a capital, overthrow a government and get away with it. Apparently Russia didn't get the email.

Talk about "do as I say, not as I do". At least Russia had a valid reason for attacking.

I'm commenting from your wife's blog. Please keep the lovely little kitten! My husband was against having a cat, and finally relented and we ended up with a giant (17 lb) red tabby from the local animal shelter (he was an older kitten when we got him). That cat loves my husband, and my husband adores that cat! You should see them together in the evening sharing his Lazy Boy chair. Keep the kitty!

Kathy, I not going to promise that I'll keep the kitty; with 2 inside dogs (and Catherine committed to keeping 1 of the puppies as well) I think we'd all be on Prozac within a week. Pets included. However, I will promise that I won't take the kitty to the pound or dump her off on the side of the road. She'll have a good home somewhere. How's that?

Good for you for going back to check on the kitty. (o:

My husband and I have 3 dogs and 2 cats all living inside the house. And our dogs are the size of people: Caleb (yellow lab) is 118 lbs., Toby (Golden Retriever) is 138 lbs. and Hallie (Akita/GSD)is 70 lbs. And yes our house is still clean and pretty, it *can* be done! It's quite a bit of work but the joy they bring is worth it.

What has helped the most is good training and neutering the dogs. And neutering and declawing the cats (front only and if you do that they can **never** go outside).

We love our zoo. (o:

Okay, at least think about keeping the kitty, please? She's definitely a cutie. Really, once you have a couple of pets, what's another one? That's coming from a family who is now down to 1 large inside dog and 7 cats (yep, down to, we used to have two large inside dogs [greyhound and lab mix], 9 cats [mostly inside, some occasionally go out in the yard], and 2 pet rats). Oh, and 4 small children. We definitely hear the pitter patter of little feet! ;)

I hope you let Mrs. Cat keep that precious kitty! :) It sounds like Miss Penny HAS found not only a good home, but an amazing, loving home. Isn't that what you want for her? She's already found it! Don't make her settle for less. Keep the kitty! I have three inside dogs, a small parrot and 2 large parrots, and they are such a blessing! They are not extra trouble at all...and I couldn't see having any less pets than I do..the house would feel empty just missing the presence of one. I was actually considering one of ya'll puppies too, but a las, God says no for now on further furry additions. I don't think GOd can give you more than you can handle, and I don't think having three dogs and a cat would be a stretch for ya'll at all. In fact, I think it will be more of a blessing than you realize. You went back to check on that kitty for a reason.....You obviously care enough to have went back and get her. I think she is in good hands with your family. Please keep Miss Penny! :)

Miss Penney has found her 'forever' home already! She will be such a joy and pleasure to you...you just wait and see! I'm also asking for Mrs. Cat that she can keep Ms.Penney Kitty....Awwww! Come on now, you know you're getting attached to her, as well! Blessings, Cheryl

And Mrs. Cat - If I lived near you I would certainly help you get all those babies to the vet!!! So please know that I'd be there to help if I could!

An on-topic comment.... (:P) ...there does seem to be a bit of hypocrisy in the U.S.A.'s foreign policy doesn't there?

Blaine, I do agree with you on this issue. But you really do need to keep that ADORABLE little kitten. I have two cats and they aren't much trouble at all. Look at her! She is adorable.

P.S. Georgia was the aggressor. I agree.

P.S.S. Keep the kitty!!!! :)
